Terms of service

Last updated 30 September 2026

The short version

  • Floya helps you see and understand your money. It can't move money, and it isn't a bank or a financial adviser.
  • Statement reading, categories and AI answers can be wrong. Check anything important against your bank.
  • The basics are free. Floya Intelligence is a paid subscription through the App Store or Google Play, and you can cancel any time.
  • You're responsible for your account and for only uploading statements you're allowed to use.
  • These terms are governed by Nigerian law.

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Floya Labs Limited (RC 9892106), 1 Oyefeso Close, Ojota, Lagos, Nigeria (“Floya”, “we”, “us”). They cover the Floya mobile app, the floya.app website and the waitlist (together, “Floya”).

By creating an account, joining the waitlist or using Floya, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Floya.

What Floya is

Floya is a read-only personal finance tool. You upload statements from your bank app, and Floya organises the transactions into one view, with categories, totals, insights and answers to your questions.

Floya is not a bank, payment service, lender or investment service. It can’t send, pay, transfer or withdraw money, and it doesn’t hold money for you. It isn’t licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria, because it doesn’t provide regulated financial services.

Floya doesn’t give financial advice. Insights, briefings and Ask Floya answers are general information about your own transactions. They aren’t recommendations about what you should do with your money. For financial, tax or legal decisions, speak to a qualified professional.

Who can use Floya

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract under Nigerian law. You may only use Floya for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.

Your account

  • Keep your sign-in details and device secure. You’re responsible for activity on your account.
  • Give us accurate information, and tell us at hello@floya.app if you think someone else has accessed your account.
  • One person per account. Don’t share or transfer your account.

Your statements and data

  • Only upload statements you’re entitled to use, normally your own accounts. Don’t upload anyone else’s statements without their permission.
  • You own your data. You give us permission to process it only as needed to provide Floya, as described in our privacy policy.
  • You can download your data or delete your account at any time from Settings in the app.

Accuracy

We work hard to read statements correctly, but bank statements vary and change. Floya may occasionally:

  • miss or misread a transaction, or read one twice;
  • put a transaction in the wrong category;
  • give an AI-written answer or summary that’s incomplete or wrong.

Your bank’s records are always the source of truth. Check anything important against your bank before relying on it, and let us know when something looks wrong so we can fix it.

Floya Intelligence subscription

  • The core features are free. Floya Intelligence is an optional paid subscription with extra features such as the monthly briefing and Ask Floya.
  • Subscriptions are bought and managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Their terms also apply to your purchase, including payment, billing and refunds.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before renewal, in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
  • Prices are shown in the app before you buy. Founding-member pricing offered to waitlist members applies as described when it’s offered.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under Nigerian consumer protection law.

The waitlist

Joining the waitlist doesn’t guarantee access by a particular date, or to a particular feature or price. We’ll email you when your spot opens. You can leave the waitlist at any time.

Acceptable use

Please don’t:

  • use Floya for anything unlawful, fraudulent or harmful;
  • upload files that contain malware, or that aren’t bank statements;
  • try to access other users’ data, or probe, scan or break our security;
  • reverse engineer, copy or resell Floya, or use automated means to access it except as we allow;
  • overload the service, or get around limits such as the daily Ask Floya allowance.

Our intellectual property

Floya, its software, design, name and logo belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app while these terms apply. Feedback you send us may be used to improve Floya without any obligation to you.

Changes to Floya

We’re building Floya actively, so features will change. We may add, change or remove features. If we remove a paid feature you rely on, we’ll tell you in advance where we reasonably can.

Suspension and ending your account

You can stop using Floya and delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription, so cancel that separately.

We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we’re required to by law, or to protect Floya or other users. Where appropriate, we’ll tell you why and give you a chance to download your data first.

Disclaimers

Floya is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we don’t promise that it will be uninterrupted, error free or suitable for a particular purpose, or that its information will always be complete or accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows:

  • we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, savings or opportunities;
  • we aren’t liable for decisions you make based on information in Floya, or for losses caused by your bank, app store or other third parties;
  • our total liability to you for any claim relating to Floya is limited to the amount you paid us for Floya Intelligence in the 12 months before the claim, or ₦10,000 if that amount is lower or you haven’t paid anything.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that can’t be excluded under Nigerian law, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Disputes and governing law

If you have a problem with Floya, please contact us first at disputes@floya.app. Most issues can be sorted out quickly that way.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute that we can’t resolve informally will be handled by the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Floya after that, the updated terms apply. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account.

General

  • If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we haven’t given it up.
  • You can’t transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours as part of a reorganisation, merger or sale, and your rights won’t be reduced as a result.
  • These terms and our privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Floya.
